Twyfelfontein & Damaraland
Thousands of rock engravings, and elephants that live in dry riverbeds.
About
Twyfelfontein holds one of the largest concentrations of rock engravings in Africa, pecked into sandstone by hunter-gatherers over thousands of years. The surrounding Damaraland is stark red rock and gravel, home to desert-adapted elephant and black rhino that range along the dry Huab and Aba-Huab rivers, tracked from community-run conservancy camps.
