Tiwai Island
A river island with one of the densest primate populations in the world.
About
Tiwai is a twelve-square-kilometre island in the Moa river, run as a community wildlife sanctuary, and it holds eleven primate species including the rare Diana monkey and a population of western chimpanzees. Nights are for pygmy hippo tracking along the water; days are forest walks and canoe trips, staying in the sanctuary's simple tented camp.
